声线兼备蓝调、民谣、爵士味道的Katie Melua，常被乐评拿来与诺拉琼丝相提并论。但她那相较甜美清澈的年轻嗓音，让人遥想起已逝的跨界流行爵士美声Eva Cassidy。而在被Mike Batt发掘的那天，Katie所演唱的正好就是受Eva启发而学下的创作曲“Faraway Voice”。此外，她也自承在音乐方面受到Queen、Joni Mitchell、Bob Dylan和印度音乐及爱尔兰民谣等多类乐风的影响。
　 1984年，她降生在前苏联的Georgia。随后是同家人的迁徙，一路从Belfast, Ireland 到 London。她成功了，一切仿佛很自然，很偶然，也很意外。
　 2003年底，首支单曲"The Closest Thing To Crazy"强登英国金榜Top 10。不久，广获好评的首张专辑"Call Of The Search"一举挤下英伦人气天后Dido、击退Norah Jones，荣获6周英国金榜后座，成为英国2004开春迄今最畅销专辑。后来江美琪把The Closest Thing To Crazy翻唱成了「谁会相信」。
Katie拥有一种独特的嗓音，多变化的歌声和情绪起伏刚好和专辑《Call Off The Search》要呈现的老蓝调和Jazz调调的歌曲吻合，而她擅长的吉他也有莫大发挥，加上Mike Batt的多首创作，使得《Call Off The Search》原创味道浓厚。其中她翻唱英国蓝调英雄John Mayall的64年经典曲《Crawling Up A Hill》流畅的演绎和歌声的掌握都让人惊艳不已；到了俏皮的《My Aphrodisiac Is You》，Katie又化身成一位柔媚歌姬，把歌词中的复古性感飙到极限，而不管是著名经典《Learnin The Blues》或是Randy Newman的旷世名曲《I Think Its Going to Rain Today》，Katie的版本同样不遑多让。当然，也有如首支单曲《The Closest Thing To Crazy》这般浪漫至性的恋曲，以少女的口吻娓娓道来，加上弦乐的编曲，那种举棋不定的不安自然征服人心。
